Application
Suitable for waterproof sealing of joints, gaps and seams in sanitary & kitchen applications such as (synthetic) shower cabinet, walk-in showers, bath tubs, sinks, toilets, joints between the kitchen counter, tiled walls and floors. Can be applied (without primer) on almost all (even on moist) construction materials such as concrete, bricks, drywall, masonry, ceramics, glass, ceramic & enameled tiles, granite, (disbarked) wood, stainless steel and many other metals and synthetics. Also suitable for shrink-free & airtight sealing of strong moving joints and dilatation joints, seams and cracks in constructions, walls and ceilings as well for sealing connecting joints along door- and window frames, windowsills, skirting boards and stairs.
Not suitable for bitumen, polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), PTFE, copper based metals (bronze, brass) and not suitable for glazing applications and aquaria.
Handling
Before use
Application temperature: +5°C to +40°C. The optimum processing temperature for cartridge and surface is between 15°C and 25°C.
Surfaces must be clean, free of dust, rust- and grease. Surface must be solid. The surface may be slightly moist. Use of a primer not required.
If necessary, prevent three-sided bonding by filling the joint with a foam backer rod or PE film.
GRIFFON Professional Cartridge Gun, GRIFFON Multitool, GRIFFON Sealant Finisher, GRIFFON Sealant Finishing Tool, GRIFFON Wipes.
Suitable for approximately 15 meters x 5 mm joint.
During use
Surface must be clean, free of dust and grease. Cut open cartridge up to the thread with GRIFFON Multitool or sharp box cutter. Turn the nozzle onto the cartridge. Cut the nozzle to the desired diameter (= joint width) (at least 5 mm Ø in case of joint seams). Place cartridge in the sealant gun and inject sealant evenly into the joint, crack or hole. Keep the nozzle tight onto the joint to make sure the sealant is applied into the joint. Spray Sealant Finisher onto the joint. Moisten Joint Tool and smoothen sealant within 10 - 15 minutes. Let the sealant fully cure. After approx. 15 minutes, a surface skin will form. · Airtight constructions: For large gaps, joints or seams (in e.g. partition walls) first use suitable back padding: GRIFFON HBS-200® Flex Foam. Inject sealant into the joint and spread the sealant evenly with a (flat) brush to a seamless film of at least 1 mm thickness with a minimum width of 3 cm on both sides of the joint. The thickness must be measured (wet) with a layer thickness gauge.
· Ensure a minimum joint width of 5 mm and a maximum of 25 mm. The joint depth depends on the joint width. The joint depth should always be in the correct relationship of the joint width. · Joint - Depth calculation joints < 9mm : Joint Depth = Joint Width · Joint - Depth calculation joints > 9mm : Joint Depth = (Joint Width / 3) + 6mm · GRIFFON Poly Max® Sealant cures under the influence of humidity. Contact with humidity is therefore absolutely necessary during curing.
· Shower can be used after 2 hours (water resistant joint). Caution: do not immediately fully load shower cabinet or bath!· For bonding applications, use GRIFFON Poly Max® Pro Power or GRIFFON Poly Max® Fix & Seal. · Can be painted with all Acrylic and most Alkyd paints. Tip: Given the wide variety of paints, always check paint compatibility on sealant in advance. For the best results it’s recommended to paint after 2 hours. · Take into account that curing time of Alkyd paints may take longer. · Total UV absence can cause discoloration of the sealant. Possible discoloration does not affect the technical properties of the sealant. · Due to the variety of substrates (e.g. metals, plastics, etc.), it is recommended to carry out a material compatibility- and adhesion test in case of doubt.
After use
Remove excess sealant residues immediately with a wet cloth or GRIFFON Wipes, remove cured sealant residues mechanically or with GRIFFON Silicone Remover.
Store closed cartridge in a dry (between 5 - 25°C) place. Shelf Life: 15 months (after production date). Limited shelf life after opening.
