CE Marking is a declaration by the manufacturer that the product meets all the appropriate provisions of the relevant legislation implementing certain European Directives. It was introduced to the construction industry by the European Commission through the Construction Products Directive (CPD) to help break down trade barriers.
A product with CE marking can be placed on the market of any country of the European Economic Area without adaptation or rechecking.
Adhesives and Sealants are subject to the European Construction Products Regulation (CPR) No. 305/2011. This regulation has been in effect since 1 July 2013 and specifies the minimum requirements for construction products in the areas of safety, fire resistance and mechanical strength, among others. If a harmonised European standard has been established for a specific product group, compliance with the relevant CE requirements must be demonstrated and the product must be labelled with the CE logo. In addition, a Declaration of Performance (DoP) must be available, describing the way in which the products have been tested and indicating the level of performance achieved by the product. PVC Adhesives and Chemical Anchors fall under this European Construction Products Regulation. Sealants will also be covered by this CPR as of July 2014.
