NEW LEGISLATION FOR PU PRODUCTS
A new regulation on diisocyanates was approved by European authorities under REACH on the 4th of August 2020. The regulation addresses respiratory and dermal hypersensitivity potentially caused by diisocyanates and requires training prior to the use of products containing >0.1% free diisocyanate monomers.
Users of PU products must be trained and certified in the safe handling of products containing diisocyanates by the 24th of August 2023. This applies to all professional and industrial users.
Extensive information on the use of PU products is available on the site of FEICA, the association of the European adhesives and sealants industry: https://www.feica.eu/our-projects/safe-use-diisocyanates.
https://www.feica.eu/PUinfo will take you to the online training platform where professional and industrial users can be trained and certified.
For products placed on the market from 24 February 2022 onwards, a clear reference to the training requirement must be visible on the label.
The new regulation and mandatory training only apply to polyurethane products. NO training is required for working with SMP-Polymer-based products. The formulations of the recently expanded Wood Max range are based on SMP-Polymer technology and are therefore MDI-, solvent- and PU-free. Wood Max belongs to the new generation of wood construction adhesives.
Wood Max is guaranteed:
· MDI (Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate)-, solvent- and polyurethane (PU)-free
· Extremely strong (110 kg/cm²)
· Permanently flexible
· Waterproof (D4)
· Immediately scrapable and non-foaming
· Weather- and UV-resistant
Wood Max is available in three variants; Wood Max Power, Wood Max Express Power and Wood Max Transparent Power.
